Steve Geimann (Photo)Steve Geimann has been a reporter, editor, manager and executive for four decades in newspapers, broadcast, trade publications and wire services. He is a deputy team leader at Bloomberg News, responsible for coverage of regulations and legislation. He is active in groups such as the Society of Professional Journalists, which he served as president, and its non-profit, educational foundation.

The native of Brooklyn, New York, joined Bloomberg in 1999 after five years as senior editor at Communications Daily, a Washington-based trade newsletter covering telecommunications. At Bloomberg, he directed coverage of telecom, transportation and politics. For two years, he anchored WBBR Radio’s “Bloomberg: The Final Word,” a daily wrap-up of business, politics and sports.

Geimann, a former executive editor of United Press International, was 1996-97 president of the Society of Professional Journalists, the most broad-based group of U.S. professional and student journalists. He won the Wells Memorial Key, the Society’s highest honor, in 2001.

Since 1997, he has represented SPJ on the Accrediting Council for Education in Journalism and Mass Communications.

Geimann attended Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications. He lives with his wife, Carol Sadler, a project manager at the National Institutes of Health, in North Bethesda, Maryland.
